Overview
The Front of House and Coffee shop team at Brading Roman Villa are a vital component and the first point of contact for all visitors to the site. All three areas, comprising of the museum reception, shop and coffee shop are where a “first impression” is created and therefore this must always be demonstrated with a high standard of customer service.
The role of Coffee Shop Manager is to ensure that this service and the visitor experience is maintained. You will manage the Coffee Shop staff, chefs and catering assistants and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of catering operations and services. You will be required to monitor the quality of the food, and service as it is important to achieve good quality within a budget whilst maintaining high standards of hygiene and customer satisfaction.

Start date will be week commencing 18th July. You must be available to start work from this date if offered the position.
This role does require you to work weekends and on occasion some evenings.
Permanent-Part Time: £12.50 per hour
Main responsibilities: (non exhaustive)
- This role carries responsibility of a designated key holder when you will be responsible (when rostered) for opening and closing the site.
- Keeping to budgets and maintaining financial and administrative records.
- Collating, evaluating and feed back on the progress, delivery and development of the Coffee Shop for the Trustee meetings with bi-monthly reports.
- Attending monthly staff meetings, leading on some areas covered by the agenda and bringing forward ideas and suggestions on enhancing the services we offer.
- Hiring, training, supervising and motivating permanent and temporary staff.
- Organising staff rotas to support the Office and Admin Manager.
- Managing and leading event planning when the coffee shop/education room or museum reception is required for private functions/events/meetings.
- In conjunction with the Office and Admin Manager, create and update policies and procedures by which the team must operate.
Ensuring that health and safety regulations are strictly observed, recorded and archived. - Working within established guidelines and operating procedures.
- Understanding the need for, and helping to maintain, excellent hygiene procedures and all food hygiene and preparation and storage procedures are followed and recorded.
- Maintaining such records as are required by external agencies e.g Food Standards Agency etc.
- Ensuring staff are fully trained and understand protocols/procedures and are kept informed of any updates to food handling, preparation storage, hygiene etc.
- Ensuring that everyone is wearing appropriate clothing to satisfy statutory requirements as well as enhancing the image of Brading Roman Villa.
- Ensuring that any risk assessments are complied with.
- Monitoring the quality of the product and service provided.
- In conjunction with the Office and Admin Manager, be aware of groups and meetings that require food and beverage.
- Ensuring adequate stock levels of supplies and consumables for café area, managing orders and stock rotation.
- Planning menus in consultation with chefs to meet budget and financial requirements.
- Creating offers and deals that will encourage repeat visits in the café.
- Planning and managing events to promote the offerings of the café and increase revenue.
- Ensuring that alcohol is sold according to the Licensing Act 2003 and uphold the Think 25 policy.
- Working with the kitchen team to develop a good knowledge of the products on offer to guide customers and to issue allergen advice as necessary.
- Follow cashing up procedures and money placed securely in the safe at the end of the day.
